Are all people entitled to free health care?

Not all people should be entitled to free health care because the resources would be abused.

With the free health care, people would go to the hospital right away even if they have super mild symptoms. This would cause people who need actual help to be forced to wait in line and can’t be treated first. Taiwan is most famous for its free and cheap health care. Therefore, in Taiwan, hospitals are like the people’s second home. Whenever people feel a bit unwell, they rush to the closest hospitals or clinics, sometimes even to the emergency room, right away. This shouldn’t be allowed because people could have just gone to the pharmacy and bought some painkillers or pills, which would have the same function as medicine that the doctors would have given you. There are limited doctors and people should also think of others who are actually in need.

Free health care essentially means that the government funds the health care system. Doctors’ salary depends on the amount of patients they see, and how long they worked. Because of this payment method, doctors may not give out 100% effort on all the patients. For example, doctor A is desperate for money. Usually, he sees about 100 patients everyday. However, because he wants to earn more, he might try to squeeze in about 20 more patients. In this case, it wouldn’t be possible for him to help carefully because the only thing in his mind will be about the number of patients he gets in a day.

Due to the free health care for all citizens, the government would need to purchase a lot of resources from companies. When people abuse the resources, it would be used up very fast and the government would have to buy it again. Every country has a limited budget for its health care, so in order to purchase enough, the government might buy cheaper and less delicate medical resources for the people to use.
